The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that 1,300,000 divorces and dissolutions are granted
annually in the U.S.  It is still true that half of all marriages will end, and that for every
subsequent marriage the odds of divorce grow exponentially.

About 60% of all divorces involve children.  The 2000 census shows that the number of
single-parent-headed households is up for both mothers (25% since 1990)  and fathers
(over 60% increase).   Over half of the children born in the 1990's will spend some of their
time growing up in a single parent household.

With the turmoil, and heartbreak that divorce causes in a home, one can expect the
grieving process to last from 2-5 years.

If you are going through this very difficult time, know that the children will always
remember how you, as
divorcing parents, handled this, and they will carry this into
adulthood, into their own relationships.
